We specialize in meat raised here on our own farm the way nature intended.

Our Farm Story
We have been raising quality freezer beef since 2010. Jane started a small herd of beef cattle while she was still living on her parents dairy farm in Ionia county.
She moved up to Lakeview in 2013. Rob and Jane met while at their fulltime firefighting career and knew it was it. We were each other's person.
We got married right on the farm in 2017, and its been a great match!
We decided we wanted our farm name to give a slight nod of the hat towards firefighting.
So we named it after the Pickhead Axe, an extremely popular and handy tool used on the fireground.
After several years of selling beef locally to repeat customers, we knew we produced a quality of meat that other families wanted for dinner too — a meat that was grown with care on the farm. And now, we offer beef by the whole, half, quarter, as well as whole chickens.
Farm Philosophy
Our philosophy is that healthy and happy animals produce the best quality of meat,
so our animals enjoy a low-stress, fresh air, healthy lifestyle.

Farm Practices
Our animals live a very low stress happy life here on the farm. Less stress hormones and adrenaline in the animals lead to a better tasting meat.
We spend a lot of time with all of our animals, and we know that happy animals lead to the best quality of life for them and the best quality of meat for you.
Our herd is never given growth hormones.
We would only use antibiotics when absolutely necessary to treat a sick animal. Thankfully, that is incredibly rare!
We never use antibiotics preventatively or proactively. Our herd kept healthy by the way they live and what they eat, the natural way.
